This camp was formed in January, 1995. It is named for Lt. Col. Cyrus Grant and

Lt. Col. Emerson Powers Brooks both of Meigs County, Ohio.

The camp meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the odd months of the year.

Time of meetings is 7:15 p.m.

Place of meetings is Masonic Building
Middleport, OH.
 

We meet with the Maj. Daniel McCook Circle #104 Ladies of the G.A.R.
 

The camp accepts juniors (ages 8-13) but not associates
(those without proof of direct or collateral Union ancestor).


Application fee is $10. Annual dues is $34 per year.

Documentation for application is required.
 
 

A Ladies of the G. A. R. is being organized. An S.V.R. group is also being formed.
 


The camp has catalogued 1700 Union veterans buried in Meigs County, Ohio and is in the process of being verified.
Also, the 1890 federal census of Union soldiers is being prepared for publishing.
 
 

The camp is actively involved in trying to save Ohio's only Civil War battlefield, the Buffington Island Battlefield
at Portland, Ohio, where Morgan's Raiders were engaged.


The camp celebrates Memorial Day annually at the Civil War statue at Meigs County Courthouse on the Saturday before
Memorial Day weekend.

  The Camp celebrates Appomatox Day with a bean dinner along the Ohio River.
