Brothers of the Department of Ohio,

Although the day designated for Memorial Day was May 23rd, please remember that the true date set by General Logan, from his General Order #11, is May 30th.  Please remember to commemorate this day and work toward restoration of this date on a national basis.  

Since this is my final Department Order as Department Commander, I would like to thank all of you for the honor and privilege of serving you this past year.  Thank you for the warm greetings and hospitality extended to me during my visits to camps and events throughout the year.  In addition, I would also like to thank the Department Officers & Committee members, Past Department Commanders and the entire Ohio brotherhood for your support, encouragement and hard work during my administration.  It has been an exciting and very productive year.  
In leaving this office, please allow me to emphasize, one last time, our creed that binds us together as a fraternal organization and a brotherhood: Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty.

We hope to see a great turn out at the Ohio Department Encampment on June 13, 2009 at the Franklin County Veterans Memorial Building in Columbus, Ohio.

We also hope for a big turnout for the National Encampment that will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 13-15, 2009.
