Department Order No. 6
Series 2008-2009
I hereby appoint the following brothers to the following posts:
All camps are again reminded to send their camp histories to the Dept. Signals
Officer Ken Freshley.
In his General Order #4, September, 2005, PCinC Donald Darby ordered that all camps and departments begin writing their histories and sending them in to their respective departments.
Since we now have a section for camp histories on our department web site, I believe it is even more important to complete this project. PDC Freshley said they can be sent to him via e-mail, CD or hard copy.
As PCinC Darby said so aptly in his order, "...we have done much over the years to record and collect the history of the Grand Army of the Republic, as is our purpose.
We have, however, not been
as successful in recording the history of the Sons." ...Many of the "Old
Guard" are slipping from our ranks. Before they are gone we need to record
their images and memories of the "good old days."
Let's work hard to complete this task for them and for future generations of
our department and the SUVCW.
So ordered this 1st day of December, 2008
