This Special Order is written and issued in conformity with the provisions of Article 10, Section 2 of the By-Laws of the Department of Ohio, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

 

        In the course of new business at the Annual Department Encampment of the Department of Ohio, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, to be held on June 13, 2009 at Veterans Memorial in Columbus, Ohio, a proposed addition to Subparagraph 1 of Article 3, Section 3 of the Department By-Laws will be considered.

 

        The full written text of the existing Subparagraph 1 of Article 3, Section 3 of the Department By-Laws is attached to this Special Order, with the proposed addition being delineated in bold type.

Article 3

Officers and Duties

 

 

Section 3: The Officers shall perform such duties as are set forth in the Constitution, Rules and Regulations and as may hereafter be specified:

 

1.     All Department Officers, elected or appointed, and chairmen of all standing and special Committees, shall make a report in writing at each Department Encampment, reporting the results of their labors during the term, and with recommendations for the future welfare of the Order.

 

a.     Each elected Department Officer shall have the option of making an oral report in addition to his written report.  However, the Department Commander, if he chooses to do so, may limit the time to be allotted to such oral report.
