In conformance with General Order #8, issued by Commander-in-Chief Leo Kennedy, Department Order #16 is hereby issued.
It is with deep regret to inform all members of the Department of Ohio of the passing of Real Son Robert Warner of the Corp Patrick Coyne Camp #1 of Wichita, Kansas.
Brother Warner passed away on 7 December 2009 at the age of 92. He was the son of Private William C. Warner of the 9 th Indiana Cavalry. William Warner’s service included being a prisoner near Selma, Alabama and upon his release he was traveling north on the Sultana when it exploded on April 27, 1865. Private Warner survived the explosion and went many years before talking about it to family.
Funeral arrangements are pending and the Department of Kansas will post them when available. Brother Warner is survived by his daughter, Gail Keen and the Camp is in contact with her. Condolences and cards may be sent to the Camp thru Thomas E. Schmidt at 404 North Walnut Street, Peabody, KS 66866.
It is ordered that the Department of Ohio Web Site, the Charter of the Department of Ohio and all Camp Charters and Membership Badges be draped in black for a period of 30 days from the date of the Department Order.
