Department Order No. 3
Series 2011-2012
Brothers of the Department of Ohio;
I would like to commend the Department for a job well done with the list of Camp activities since last June. These events include dedications for the Last Union Veteran of six counties, two Sesquicentennial Events and at least nine other events. Please continue to send articles and photos about what we do to not only the Banner [email protected] and the Buckeye Bugle [email protected], but also to our Historian Jonathan Davis [email protected].
As we approach the New Year, all officers need to remember to file their various forms and reports that soon will be due. These forms need filed on time, typed, in duplicate and in accordance with my Department Order #1.
The Mid Winter Meeting will be held 14 Jan 2011, at Veterans Memorial in Columbus. I am not requiring that officers or Camps file written reports unless you have something that needs reported at this time. Oral reports may be given at the meeting with a 3 minute limit. I would like to hear reports from the members of the Department Storage Committee- Fred Lynch, Jonathan Davis, Jon Silvas, & Brad Tilton. More information on times and rooms will be forth coming.
Let me remind all Camps that in our excitement to add new members, let us not forget the requirements for membership set forth in our Constitution (ARTICLE III).Additionally, Chapter 1 ARTICLE II,Section 1, of the Regulations states.
Each application for membership shall be recommended by a Brother of the Camp who shall vouch for the applicant's eligibility and moral character. It shall be then referred to a committee of three (of which the Brother recommending shall not be one) for investigation and report. The Committee shall make a careful investigation of the facts set forth in the application, and shall recommend the election or rejection of the applicant. 12,13
I wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
