Union County's Last Civil War Veteran Information

Cyrus Stamets,  He served the 1^st OVI and was attached to the Army of the Cumberland. 
He participated in five major battles including Chickamauga, Resaca, Mission Ridge, Kenesaw Mountain, and the siege of Atlanta. 
He was also with Sherman on his march to the sea

He died on 2/12/39 and is buried in York Center Cemetery
