 General Order 010  - -  2005-2006

1.      Brothers, once again it is my sorrowful duty to report the lost of yet another Past Department Commander.  While attending the Department of Maryland Encampment this weekend it was reported the PDC Robert J. Eck had passed away and was buried on 22 April 2006.

2.      PDC Eck was the Maryland Department Commander for the term 1999-2000.  He was the founder of the Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain Camp in Roanoke, Va.   Brother Eck was involved in the Oliver Tilden Camp, New York City early in his SUVCW career. He was a hard working and inspirational leader who forged a useful relationship with the Sons of Confederate Veterans while recruiting loyal Sons deep in the valley of Virginia.

3.      Brother Bob and his family were welcome everywhere as charming hard working Americans.  Bob was also in great demand wherever a bagpiper was needed.  He marched in thousands of parades, played a thousand marches on his pipes and is remembered wherever the pipes sound and the Boys in Blue are remembered.

4.      All Charters and the National Website will be draped in black for a period of 30 days as the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War mourn the passing of Past Department Commander Robert J. Eck.

Sworn this 23rd day of April 2006
